2016 festival fashion trends

2016 festival fashion trends

With Glastonbury festival kicking off this week, the festival season is well underway. Whilst the music is undoubtedly what what thousands of people will be flocking to glastonbury for, it wouldn’t quite be the festival we know if it wasn’t for the weird and wonderful outfits these music fanatics dress up in. So in order to not get caught out this festival season, take a look at our festival fashion must have pieces for the 2016 season.

1. Glitter

Glitter has always been a thing at festivals. But with it being more popular than ever, you might stick out like a sore thumb if you aren’t wearing glitter in some shape or form. Probably the most popular option music fans are opting for this year is glitter on the face. This trend could have been inspired by some of pop music’s greatest artists, with the likes of Lady Gaga and Kesha having rocked the look throughout their careers.

If face glitter isn’t enough for you then festival goers are also rocking the glitter look in their hair. After all, you can never have too much glitter...right?

2. Crochet top

Crochet tops are very Coachella. But with the trend massively taking off and nearly every high street store stocking them, it is likely this trend will carry through the festival season. They also make for the perfect english festival fashion piece. Looking great on it’s own or with a baggy cardigan thrown over the top, you will be guaranteed to look trendy come rain or shine.

3. Ripped denim shorts

Denim shorts have long been a festival fashion favourite. But this year it’s all about the ripped, and slightly baggy, denim shorts. They compliment crochet tops so well and work on their own or with a pair of long socks or tights underneath if the weather turns slightly cold. Celebrities such as Kylie Jenner and Suki Waterhouse have already been spotted sporting this look at Coachella earlier this year, so it is likely festival goers will gain inspiration from their looks.

4. Double buckle belt

The double buckle belt is relatively new on the fashion scene, but it is likely you will see a lot of people wearing them this weekend at Glastonbury festival. They look great with denim shorts or even with a pair of ripped denim jeans. Even more than a fashion statement, you can use your belt to attach a mini bag to, to save you carrying one around - handy!

5. Mirrored sunglasses

Mirrored sunglasses are extremely popular this summer, especially ones with pastel coloured lenses. If you can’t get your hands on a pair of these though, any sunglasses will do as they are an essential festival item. After all, sunglasses do save you from having to do your makeup in the horrendous tent lighting with your tiny hand held mirror - Hooray!

6. Space buns

What are space buns I hear you ask? Just Google them. Festival goers have been rocking this look since the last festival season, but it is likely the trend will remain. The simple hairstyle will save you from having to spend hours on trying to make your hair look good without straighteners and is the perfect go to option for when your dry shampoo runs out.

7. Wellies

Okay, it goes without saying. But wellies will be your best purchase for the festival season, so make sure you get a pair. The right pair of wellington boots will serve their purpose of keeping your feet dry, whilst being the perfect accessory for your outfit; bonus!
