Pick of the festive films

With the festive season now upon us, the time has come to dig out your comfy trousers, pop on a pair of novelty slippers and put your feet up in front of the TV for a well earned movie marathon.
Luckily for telly addicts out there, the TV planners have come up trumps this year and the festive schedules are packed full of movie treats for all the family. To help get you into the Christmas spirit, here’s our pick of the very best films on offer over the festive period.
Scrooge, Christmas Eve, Channel 5
A classic adaptation of Charles Dickens’ festive favourite, this 1951 movie tells the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge and his ghost-filled Christmas Eve.
A heart warming story of redemption, generosity and human kindness, Scrooge is the perfect way to get your family into the festive spirit this Christmas.
Happy Feet, Christmas Day, ITV 1
It’s impossible to feel sad after watching this animated offering, so if you’ve got a touch of the winter blues or over indulge in the eggnog on Christmas Eve, turn on this classic movie and feel your troubles fade away.
Suitable for all the family, Happy Feet is the perfect film to watch as your Christmas dinner goes down.
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Christmas Day, Channel 4
Even funnier than the original, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, is one of the best Christmas films of all time. Heart warming, hilarious and packed full of pranks, this action packed crowd pleaser is one film that everyone in your family is guaranteed to love.
Toy Story, Christmas Day, BBC 3
Another family classic, this is the film that kick started the entire Toy Story franchise.
Kids who have never seen the original will love finding out how Woody, Buzz and the gang started out, while adults will be able to enjoy a throw back to their childhoods and the classic films of the 90s.

Deep Impact, Sunday 27th December, BBC2
If you’ve had enough of Christmas for one year and are looking for an antidote to all that festive cheer, sit yourself down in front of classic disaster movie.
Without a reindeer, mince pie or snowman in sight, this film is the perfect choice for any Scrooges left out there.
