Facts about weight loss that you probably didn't know...

 

Things that happen when you lose weight that you probably didn’t know….

Losing weight is either deemed a great thing or a bad, but either way, there’s lots of things that happen when we do that we probably didn’t even pause to think about! Here are a few of the things that occur!

We drink water to lose it…

People often think that losing weight is easy, or at least in the beginning when they lose 5 pounds quicklike… What most people don’t know is that it’s easier to lose the first however many pounds as we lose the water in our body first (which makes plenty sense considering 80% of our body consists of water).

You need more sleep…

Losing weight can actually exhaust the body as it’s working harder to lose the fat. So when you’re tired, let your body rest! As long as you have a healthy lifestyle with workouts and a balanced diet, it’s perfectly fine to take a time out! It’ll also help reduce stress! The sleep allows your body to repair itself and regain lost energy as losing weight can, in fact, stress the body out!

 

It can make you moody…

 

If you’re losing weight to cut refined and processed foods out your life such as junk or fast foods in order to maintain a healthier lifestyle, it’s likely you’ll face mood swings as your body goes through the process of detoxing of these unhealthy and addictive foods! It has been proven that these processed (but equally yummy) foods, especially refined sugary goodness, can provide an addiction as strong as those addicted to heroin! The moodiness won’t last forever, just while you’re body is detoxing its system until your body balances itself out, the cravings will pass! 

You can be affected by…

A change in sleeping patterns can result in a loss of sleep which can very easily occur when you’re losing weight as your body undergoes changes. This can lead to binge eating or eating unhealthy snacks in the late hours of the night, which can make you put lots of weight in result (due to sleeping straight away without time for proper digestion). A remedy for that is a glass of almond milk, it can put you right back to sleep as it is high in calcium and contains essential fats that can help induce sleep! 

You lose muscle…

Where losing weight is great to cut back on certain foods and get rid of excess and unnecessary fats, you don’t just lose fat but muscle mass too which isn’t great. Without muscle, you won’t have anything to fuel and amp up your metabolism as well as burn fat! It also helps your system prevent osteoporosis! Therefore it’s important to have enough bulk by exercising to maintain the weight loss as well as being fit and healthy!

Fat storage…

Because you’re losing weight, your body can very easily clock on to the fact your body is changing and intaking fewer calories, in result, it will see this as having a need to store more fat from the less food you’re having - making it harder to lose weight after all. To stop this from happening, you should ensure you exercise enough as well as eating enough so your body isn’t hungry.
